Take 5 with "Grounded by Reality"

As we gear up for the Oxford Film Festival 2011 to be held at the Malco Studio Theater on Feb. 10-13, 2011, we thought we might introduce you to some of the people behind the movies we can't wait to show you.

Meet Take 5 filmmaker, Phoebe Brown, co-producer of "Grounded by Reality."
For the full schedule and description of the films, visit www.oxfordfilmfest.com.

Q. 1: In 140 characters or less, describe your movie and why someone should see it.

A: Jessica Blinkhorn is a tattooed, hard rolling, multi-talented artist who will inspire you...even if she doesn't want to.

Q. 2: Biggest lesson learned in getting the film made? Best part in getting the film made?

A: In the course of the 5 whirlwind days of filming our short doc, we learned how how much able bodied people take for granted. And went from being slightly intimidated by our subject to absolutely smitten. Getting to know Jessica and being able to take her to Toronto was the absolute best thing about making our film.

Q. 3: Tell us about you. What is your movie making background?

A: I got into filmmaking the long way. I bounced around the country doing various odd and even odder jobs before landing in Atlanta. Filmmaking was always my dream so I went to film school at Georgia State University and from day one I knew there was no turning back. Wanting to really hone my craft I stayed at GSU until I completed my MFA and in the process made two festival worthy doc shorts. I'm currently working on a cross-platform doc that will hopefully evolve into a feature.

Q. 4: What's your dream distribution plan for the film?

A: Grounded by Reality was the P.O.V. award winner in the International Documentary Challenge and we are hoping for an air date in 2011. That is as dreamy as it gets!

Q. 5: What does the future hold in store for your film and for you?

A: I am currently working on The Cross Stitch Project in Atlanta and Calcutta, India. Read all about it @ www.CrossStitchProject.org and we hope to keep Grounded by Reality on the festival circuit and to do outreach with Jessica. We have talked about doing a longer form project or maybe a series of shorts with Jess.
