Today (Sunday) we had intended to screen the documentary feature FAUBOURG TREME: THE UNTOLD STORY OF BLACK NEW ORLEANS for a second time. However, because our category winner, CRUDE INDEPENDENCE, was inadvertently left off the schedule, and we promised Malco (contractually) that we would be out of the venue by 7:00pm, we made an executive decision to pull the second screening of FAUBOURG.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and apologize even more profusely to the filmmakers Dawn Logsdon and Lolis Eric Elie.
Wearing my other hat as Media selector and cataloger for the University of Mississippi Libraries, I can tell you that the film is now available for purchase through the filmmakers website, and we will be adding the film to the circulating collection in the J.D. Williams Library within the next month. The film is also slated to air on PBS in 2009.
However, as CRUDE INDEPENDENCE is just beginning its festival run, having WORLD PREMIERED WITH US yesterday, we made the decision to change the schedule in this manner.
Thanks for your understanding.
Michelle
