TiVo the Olympics! It's Smoothie and a Movie!

The Summer Smoothie Film Series -- hosted by Ron Shapiro and the Main Squeeze, and presented by the Oxford Film Festival and the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council -- returns on Friday, August 8 at 7:00pm. Smoothies start at 6:00pm! $5.00 tickets at the door.

This month's film: Pretty Ugly People

Equal parts naivete, selfishness, and her desperate need for acceptance drives Lucy (Missi Pyle) into luring her old group of friends to the rugged Montana wilderness by implying that she is dying. Honoring Lucy's "final wish," these old friends begrudgingly convene from all over the country to join Lucy's side: a culturally-conflicted black Congressman (Phill Lewis) and his ghetto-centric wife (Octavia Spencer), a very straight (despite everyone's suspicions) male Flight Attendant (Larry Sullivan), a reformed-slut-schoolteacher (Melissa McCarthy) and her frigid husband (Philip Littell), a cocky, womanizing Commodities Trader (Josh Hopkins), and a very successful, Grammy Award Winning Hip-Hop Producer (Jack Noseworthy).

The director, Tate Taylor, an Ole Miss alum, will be in attendance for a Q&A after the film.
